Fear the Cuteness

Yay! I get ExP!

I'm excited! My neighbor, who home schools her kids, came over tonight for her usual movie barrowing. As she was leaving she asked if I was willing to teach her children some art during the week. Wohoo! This is great for me. I get to build on a teaching portfolio, get some experience, and get a reference for when I apply for an official teaching position. The family is pretty poor, so I'm expecting any pay other then a plate of homemade cookies every now and then. But that completely out balances what I'll gain from all of this.

I wanna see this movie! Too bad I don't think it will be showing here in the US anytime soon.

Just wanted to share this video. It reminded me of early 80s sci-fi movies that it makes me giggle every time I see it. X3

Me Grimlock!

I really need keep up with this.

Again, poking at this journal. Meant to do this before the end of 2007. Oops. Either I can't find interesting things to write about or I don't have time to write anything. *shrugs*

Anyway, I'm now officially in the PAL program over at Greensboro College. That means I'm one step closer in getting my teaching license. All I have to do is passed the classes. The classes over the summer are intense from what I've seen. All courses are taken in a time period of 5 weeks, each course lasts for one week and each class starts at 9am to 4pm. So yeah. I'll be extremely busy this summer.

In other news, my art muse is finally active again. After about a year of being inactive I'm finally coming up with ideas with out having to be in a class to stimulate my creativity. Right now I'm only doing small stuff because I'm still stuck at home.

Also joined a multi fandom rp community called [info]dramadramaduck. It's nothing but crack and I'm using it as a stress reliever and a good laugh. I choose a character that there is no way cause any fictional drama. I choose Grimlock from G1 Transformers. X3 I think he likes going around and breaking peoples brains.

Nah!

Sharing some art. ^^

Well the semester is over now. I know I got good grades in all my classes. Thought I should share a couple of pieces I did in my ceramics class. I have them posted in my Deviant account too.

two slides of my work )

Last week, for the final in my art and children class, we went to McCoul's which is an Irish pub in downtown Greensboro. Oh was the food ever good, and the rum and coke I had. After dinner my one classmate, Shannon, gave us some phsycological questions. Well all came to the conclusion that I'm crazy. XD Yeah, big news there. I think it was kind of obvious when I answered the first question. It was the first image that came to mine when I thought of a room that had no door or windows. The first image I got was a square white padded room, and I'm having fun in it because I get to bounce off the walls. XD Pretty much my answers didn't surprise Shannon because I was the youngest in the group. I'm going to miss going to that class.

Work was a pain in the ass but I'm not going to complain. After Harbor hell hole, anything is god send. I might have to work a second job because I'm not getting many hours. =/

That's all for now. Actually got through an update without ranting.

Catching up through rambling.

Well it's the end of the semester and soon I will have more free time then I would know what to do with. Today was my last day of student observation. I have over 52 hours! I only needed 25... Well atleast they will know I'm determined to get this lisense.

Last week I taught my first art lesson in front of a real high school class. Damn was I ever nervous. My professor said I did really well in hiding it, but my heart wouldn't stop pounding the whole time. What was worse, the students were dead silent. It was kind of creepy. We're talking about high school freshment here... They're not supposed to be that quiet! Well it could have been due to having 5 adults in the class room at once. There was myself, the normal teacher of the class, my assigned teacher for the school, my professor, and one of my class mates who wanted to observe the lesson. >_< They probably thought they were under marshal law.

Classmate rant )

Woo! I feel better after writing that.

Oh found out something interesting the other day. Bradon stopped by Sunday to visit Darren. Turns out at Harbor Freight the assistant office manager position has a revolving door. Out of all the AO managers they've had there, I've lasted the longest. I was only there for a year and three months... That's kind of sad for the company... The one before me only lasted five months. Good to know I wasn't the only one who that the job was a bitch. But now I'm at AC Moore and now I'm so relaxed now. I'm actually happy again. ^^

On that note, I'm leaving a note to myself to pictures of some of my pieces from ceramics. I'll post them when I do!

Okay quick update, before I have to get ready.

As you can see I'm writing from Philadelphia today. I'm hear for a big Polish family wedding. This is bound to be interesting. Btw, It's freakin cold up here! Woke up this morning and it was below 40 outside. It doesn't seem like much to some people, but in NC it's still around the early 60s and late 50s.

Anyway last week, I had fun at Sarah's wedding. The ceremony I thought was beautiful and the reception was gorgeous and fun. I actually caught the boutique. There might be some hope for me yet. XD

I start work at A.C. Moore on Wednesday. Yay! I go in at 9am which isn't too back considering I'm usually up by 7:30 now days.

School is going really well. I've been throwing things on the potters wheel. It is way harder then it looks but I think I'm getting the hang of it. I actually made a goblet thursday. Okay, it's a little lopsided but I still made and I'm proud of it damnit! I might try to make another one tuesday. The only downside about school is I won't be taking another ceramics class next semester. It will cut into work too much. But I will take the sculpture class since I know I'm weak in that area.

That's all for now.

Me Grimlock!

^_^

Well after my last post things started to look up. The next day I got a call from A.C. Moore, which is an arts and craft store for those of you who don't know, for a job interview which was schedualed for today at 1:00. They offered me a job! And yes I did take it! I need to call them back on Thursday after I find out how much notice I need to give for leaving the current hell hole I'm in. Okay, it will be a pay cut for me but I don't care! As long as I'm not working at Harbor Freight! (Dude, I have a headache, and I feel like I'm going to throw-up, but I'm still happy as hell!)

In other news, I just want to know is why almost every female friend/relative I have is getting married this year!? The weekend after Sarah's wedding is another wedding I'm going to up in Philly, this one is the daughter of my mom's cousin. This will be with family I haven't seen in ages and even some I haven't met before. But yeah, I'm going to it. From what I've heard it's going to be a huge Polish wedding. Ever see the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding?" Well it's going to be like that, only Polish. The dress is just short of being black tie, so I had to go out and buy a new dress.

Which brings me to my next set of news. Hell froze over. I bought a sexy, strapless, little black dress. >.> With red shoes to go with it... <.< Yeah, it's something I never thought I would own but here it is. Yes Sarah, you'll get to see! I'll wear it to the rehersal dinner for your wedding!

That's all for now.

White Rabbit

Getting things off my chest.

Okay, yet again it's been a long time since I've last updated but that was because I was avoiding writing this. Mostly because I don't want to worry people, but maybe if I get this all down and off my chest I'll start feeling better.

Alright on to some better news. Last week was my birthday so now I'm offically a quarter of a century old. We didn't do much which is okay, since I was tired from driving up and round seagrove earlier that day. Mom and Dad go me a silverware set for when I get a place of my own. It's really nice and has an asian like feel to it. Tim got me a gift card of Boarders, which I just about used up already. And Darren... Well he got me "Beatmix Bumblebee." Silly yes but it does make me smile for real. If you're wondering what this thing is, it's basically like the iDog but only it's Bumblebee from the Transformers movie. It also records some random bits of music, like 5 second clips, and when you don't put music through him he start's "talking" to you with what he recorded. I like to call this the "pay attention to me damnit" mode. It's weird but I like it.

Me Grimlock!

(no subject)

Well this sucks... Yesterday was my first day of my field work at Grimsly high school, and I woke up with a feakin cold. >_< What was worse I over slept and was running a little behind. grrrr... Not the best first impression I wanted to make.... I definitely going to be making it up tomorrow when I go in. If I can drag myself out of bed. The cold got worse today, and I was barely able to make it through work. Hopefully all I need is a really good nights rest.

In other news, I now have my ceramic fish done. Yay! He turned out really great, until I broke one of his fins during my art and children class. >_< Not a big deal since I was able to super glue it back on and make it look like nothing happened. What was ironic was I put him under my chair so I wouldn't break him. And what do I do? I just moved my foot back some and the next thing I heard was a clink sound. I just had to wear my clogs to class didn't I? Anyway it was just one fin and it was an easy fix. You can't even see where it broke off. I need to glaze my pumpkin and my tea pot next.

Speaking of art and children, there is this one woman in this class that is really getting on my last nerve. I'm trying to be patient with her, and I'm pretty sure she is a really nice lady, but I honestly don't think she would be a good teacher. She rambles on and on a lot. We had a guess speaker last week and she wanted to ask a question. She took 15 minutes (I timed her) explaining what she was going to ask before asking the question itself. She probably would have kept going if we didn't tell her to get to the point... But damn... I guess she likes to hear herself talk. Then last night when she saw that I broke the fin on my fish yesterday she asked me why I wasn't upset, and started rambling on how she would be upset if it was her. >_< I just told her, yes I wasn't happy about the thing break, but it wasn't something to be upset about. It was something that could be fixed with no problem and getting upset wasn't going to do me good. She just looked at me like she couldn't understand what I just said. >_<

Well that's what things have been like these past few days. B-day is about a week a way. Still can't believe I'm turning 25 this year. Oh well. That's all for now.

Death note

I love going to classes.

Classes were interesting Tuesday. I got back my first project in ceramics, which was my piggy bank. I love how he turned out. I didn't used the pink glaze on him. Instead I used one call "Blue Hare Fur" It turned out really awesome. I'm going to take slides of him soon and post them here and on Deviant Art. I can't wait to glaze my other things and see how they turn out. X3

When I got home with the piggy bank I put a penny in him just for the hell of it. I showed him to Tim this morning and he said something about being cruel and putting a whole bunch of change in him. I kind of shrugged it off until I got home from work and when I went to show the piggy bank to DJ (yes I am very proud of the thing!) I discovered that it a little bit heavier. Tim put in a whole bunch of change into my piggy bank! The thing is I didn't put a hole in it where you can get the money out since I just wanted to use it as a decoration. So the change is stuck in there forever.

In Art and Children we talked about classroom management. We talked about past experiences and how the teachers handled the situation. I still remember my Chemistry teacher in high school who would give wet willies to anyone he caught sleeping in his class. Anyway I found out something interesting though. As a teacher, if a fight breaks out you're not suppose to break it up. O_o' What do you do? Let the students beat each other into a bloody pulp while you wait for the resource officer to gets there which could take a while? Apparently you are only supposed to use verbal commands. Yeah, I can see that working with a couple of hot headed students. One of the girls in my class, who is already teaching, said she heard about someone splashing cold water on the students to break up a fight. It apparently takes them by surprise so that they will stop fighting. I might just use that idea if a fight were to break out in one of my classes since I honestly don't think verbal commands will work on their own.

One thing I'm really excited about is going to Seagrove with my ceramics class on October 4th, which just happens to be my birthday. We'll be spending the whole day there doing research on a ceramics artist of our choice. What is also great is Gaddy, the professor for both my ceramics and art and children class, has canceled her classes for that day since she figured she will be too worn out to teach. Sweet! So I'll actually get to celebrate my b-day instead of being stuck in classes the whole evening. What is also great is I managed to get the day off from work despite it being a required work day. I told Ryan that this trip is 20% of my grade, which is true, so that means I have to go. *happy dance*

I'm going to call the people at Office Depot early next week and start bugging them about the job. Need to let them know that I'm really interested in the position.

Well that's all for now.

Grimmjaw: Why the Fuck me?!

Possible new job and doing something stupid.

Okay first things first. I finally gotten my assignment for my field comp! Yay! Apparently there was a glitch in the system that for some odd reason made it so that I never gotten the e-mail. Well after some bugging of my professor, she got a hold of the guy who is in charge of the field comps and everything was straighten out. Turns out I'm going to be doing it a Grimsley High School, which is great, since I want to teach at a high school level. It's also a pretty easy school to find considering it's pretty big. It used to be a small private college a while back.

I've also gave in. Fuck waiting for an eye appointment! I don't care about having insurance anymore as long as I get the hell out of that place! I honestly can't stand working there anymore, and it's actually starting to effect my health. I went to Office Depot with Tony Wednesday to apply for a job there. I met one of the managers and Tony went to talk with him to put in a good word for me. I filled out the application and started taking this agree and disagree test they have. For those of you who don't know, I'm dyslexic. I sometimes mix up words that look similar, especially when I'm under a lot of stress, as I have been lately. Guess what I did. >_< Yep I was half way through the test only to realize that I've been putting "strongly disagree" when I meant "strongly agree." And what was worse you can't go back and change answers. *bangs head* So I had to find the manager explain to him what happened and how it happened. The poor guy looked puzzled and Tony just started laughing. Fortunately I was told if I give it a few days the test will reset itself and I can take it over again. But I still managed to make myself look like a complete moron on the first impression. Anyway I was told I wasn't the first person to make this mistake but I'm not sure if I should be reassured by this for be disturbed. O_o' I'm going to go back today before work and retake the thing. Hopefully my references and such will out weigh this whole little incident. Tony was telling me that I will be laughing about this later... Let's see if I get the job first.

Spider pig~

Okay, I guess it's a good sign when you show your professor your ideas for lesson plans and she says she wants to be in your class. ^_^' Didn't expect that. I decided to do my unit on motion which gives me a wide veriaty of options. My professor has even offered to teach me how to use Flash so that it can give me another option for a lesson. And apparently I'm doing more work that is required for the class. Since I missed Tuesday, I had to go to Moodle to see what I needed for Thursday. All it said was to have your Unit idea and 5 lesson plans. I thought she wanted a summary of the unit and some details on the lessons. So I speant 2 hours writing everything up so that it will be ready for her. She really just wanted the title of the unit and the titles for the lessons. >_< We didn't even have to write it down. Oh well.

In ceramics we're making things using the pinch pot method. First was a piggy bank which I finished in one class session. The whole time I was making I kept singing "spider pig, spider pig." I'm blaming Tony for that one! He kept singing it in the car on the way to Ozzfest. I'm glad my piggy bank actually looks like a piggy bank instead of a lump of clay with legs. Then we have to make a pumpkin which I started on, and then finally a fish. We also have to do an independant project using the pinch pot and I already have an idea on what I want to do.

I haven't been this happy since I was back at ECU. It's just something about being able to work with my hands like that and create something.

In other news look at what was outside the window at work the other day.

Sqeee at the cuteness!!! )

Okay enough of the cuteness.

That's all for now anyway.

Back from Ozzfest!

I GOT TO SEE LORDI LIVE! Wohoo!!!!

Yeah I didn't know they were playing at Ozzfest until this morning. Like a dumbass, I didn't check to see which bands were playing before hand. I was just excited to be going to the show. I thought Lordi was pretty good live. Ended up yelling so much that my voice sounded like a mouse. I probably won't be able to talk in the morning. But it was awesome and well worth it.

There were some other bands we listened too but I was to crazy about them. I ended up falling asleep during Lamp of God's preformance. I'm really not too crazy about them. I wanted their act to end fast so that Ozzy can come on.

Ozzy's act was Kickass! That's all that needs to be said about that. X3

But really, I'm just really happy that I got to see one of my favorite forgein bands live.

Now excuse me while I pass out from lack of sleep.

Leftovers

After a year of being out of school, I'm back.

Okay for starters, I had my first day of classes today. W00t! (yeah that sounds like a professional teacher. >.>) Luckily I have the same professor for all my classes that's pretty sweet. It will be easier to keep up with her.

Already got our hands dirty in the ceramics class, literally. She taught us how to make a pinch pot which is pretty simple, even though I don't quite have the hang of it yet. I know ceramics is my weak point but that's why I'm taking this class right?

Then there was my Art Children course which went by pretty smoothly. My first assignment is to come up with a Unit to teach and I was thinking along the lines of movement or color. I'll probably go with movement, because I can come up with some pretty interesting ideas for that one. From this Unit I need to come up with 5 lesson plans and actually preform one of the lesson plans in front of the class. Not too bad considering there are only 4 other people in the class and the professor. We also applied for the field comp today, so hopefully soon I'll find out where I'll be to do my field observation and so on.

From the way things sound I might not be working at the hell hole for much longer. WOHOO! We'll see what happens in a few weeks from now and how much extra time I need to put in to my classes.

Not much else has been going on lately. My brother, for shits and giggles, got me a Grimlock transformer. It's a joke that's dated back since I was 5 years old. Anyway, so now I have a transformer sitting among all my dragon and bishie figures. For a while I made it look like he was chewing on Sephiroth's sword. XD Yeah, I'm a dork...

=D

YES! After much hassle and dealing with Wicked Bitch of the Student Accounts Office, I'm registered for classes! WOHOO! Tomorrow I'm going to get up early to get my parking pass and books before I go to work. Then I get to tell Ryan that I can't work past 3 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. XD If he doesn't like it he can kiss my ass and I can bug Tony in helping me get a job over where he works.

I feel so much better and I can't wait for my classes to start. I'm taking a Ceremics class followed by Art and Children (k-12). The Field Comp is basically a TBA class. One of the best things about these classes, I have the same Professor for all three of them. XD I will have to tell her that I won't be in class on the 28th though. Need to come up with a good excuse though. Not like I can say I have an emergancy rock concert to go to.

In other news... My Sims are hurting my brain!!! Just think of any random senario you can think of with a random group of anime characters and you get what is going on in the town I made. >_< The Transformer Sims are doing the worse damage to my brain. Only started taking screen shots today too and it figures they started doing weird shit now.

Eh. Might as well post a few shots and share the pain. )

Anyway since I only played for about an hour that's all the shots I have for now. I'll probably have some more, this time from other houses later.

Death note

Wohoo!!

Greensboro College must be full of some crazy people, because I just got admited! WOHOO!!! Well I'm on probation because they don't have my transcript for the classes I took at UNCG for on summer. But I can go register for the two classes I need to take before I can take the PAL classes. Lets see... Those would be Art and Children which is a night class and a Field Comp. I'm really really really hyper about this. ^^ I can't wait for the classes to start. So you can guess what I'm going to do tomorrow on my day off.

Computer trouble

Okay, I have a good reason for not posting in some time this time around! I was having a lot of computer trouble! >_< Some how I ended up lossing over a 20gbs over night, and when I ran my anti-virus, which I do keep updated, it didn't find anything. On top of that the dvd drive on this thing was getting jammed. Needless to say I was a little frustrated, especial when I couldn't get the dvd drive to work, and Dad wasn't making things any better. After several hours though I did manage to get the drive to work and everything I needed backed up. Then I just took the OSX installation disks and just whiped the whole harddrive and started over again. Now everthing is back on my computer and I is running much much better now. And I did it all without asking my brother for help! ^^ For those of you who don't know, I'm a complete idiot when it comes to computers and there probably was an easier way to fix this problem but oh well. It's done and now my computer is working again.

Other then that things have been going well. Waiting to hear about my application for the adult education at Greensboro College. I'm going to have to register late for the classes that I need. >_< But the professor I talked to said I really shouldn't have any problems and that some people have been able to get into a class as late as September. I just really want to start classes soon so that I can just quit my job at the hell hole.

Small rant about work )

I've also got addicted to the Sims again. >_< Once I got my Sims2 back onto the computer I've been having some really twisted fun with it. I went to the Mod the Sims site and found some really fun skins to play with. Of course whats the first thing that I see when I go to the anime/game character section? Some one went through to trouble to make Transfromer skins. O_o' I'm blaming that damn movie for this one... Okay they were the G1 guys but still! I have to admit though they were really well done, and just for shits and giggles I downloaded Bitchscream Starscream and the other two seekers. Haven't quite gotten them into play yet since I still need to finish their house was soooo tempted to make them a pink girly house. Sasori and Deidara are going to be their neighbors once I'm through. There is also an Optimus Prime and a Megatron too but the thought of what they might do just hurts my brain. I'll probably give in and downloaded them anyway... And then get University just to see if I can make Megatron a Dorm Co-ordinator. X3 Just go here if you want to see what these suckers look like.

Anyway that's all for now.
